What is Gamification?
Gamification is the concept of applying game-design thinking to non-game applications to make them more fun and engaging.
Gamification.org
In November 2010 Gamify, Inc. created Gamification.org, the Gamification Wiki, as a way to collaboratively document and explore the possibilities of gamification and Game Mechanics, with game designers and the emerging community interested by gamification. Since creation, it’s quickly grown to become the most visited gamification resource in the world and is currently being translated to multiple different languages by the community to help spread the concept to all corners of the world.

The Gamification Trend
In 2011, Al Gore said that “Games are the new normal”, describing how games could impact the future of how all things are done.
Gamification has surged in popularity. It has quickly become one of the most talked about trends in Silicon Valley, with google trends showing the explosive growth continuing to accelerate. According to a
2011 Gartner Research Report
it is estimated that by 2015, more than 50 percent of organizations that manage innovation processes will
gamify those processes.
Gamification Network
In mid-2011 Gamify extended Gamification.org from being just a single website for gamification, into being part of a larger network of websites called the Gamification Network.
The Gamification Network now consists of several websites that are critical for learning, studying and getting involved in the trend of gamification:
- Gamification Network - The blog and hub for all Gamification Network websites.
- Gamification Wiki - The leading resource for gamification information, collaboratively created by the community.
- Gamification Q&A - Q&A related to gamification strategy, implementation and concepts. Ask experts and get answers.
- Gamification Jobs - The first ever Job Board focused exclusively on the Gamification Industry.
Gamification and Gamify
We believe that gamification should be about creating fun and engaging experiences for people in all parts of life. Gamify.com aspires to be the ultimate gamification platform, creating a type of “game layer” that could potentially serve as the basis for all gamification on the web, mobile and in real life.
When we created the name Gamify, we realized that the average person wouldn’t care about the word “gamification” or the design process behind it -- so we created “gamify” and found that people quickly grasped the basics of what it means to gamify.
Creating Gamification.org and managing its growth with the community since 2010 has helped to inspire and inform a lot of our decisions on the proper way to create a gamification platform. We believe that our research and involvement with the community uniquely positions Gamify to get gamification right.
